Blinking Vs. Winking

I'm not just talking about facial actions.
There's always this conversation about how quickly life passes you by. Whether it be literally, spiritual, or like watching paint dry, time has a way with getting away with you. So, as I go through each day, I am constantly bewildered by how much has changed.
My theory:
There are moments that you look forward to, moments of excitement, a little flirty. The wink.
Then, there are moments where you can't recall, a flash of darkness, quick. The blink.
Most of the time winks are voluntary. It's an indication that you're looking to entice someone or they can even be interpreted as a spout of encouragement (with a favorable shoulder shrug attached). My wink theory revolves around those moments in life that maintain. Backed by intention, you planned for the moment. You choose who to direct that momentary happiness at.
Have you never winked at your reflection on your way out, after the once over glance of approval?
The wink is done with one eye open. Life isn't always closed off. We plan, we calculate, we imagine the possibilities.
Then there's the blink. It happens without much warning, your brain is functioning on its own. We have some control over it, if we try really hard. But, ultimately you accept it. If you think about the in-between moments hard enough they don't hold much significance. Things just progressed, probably without you thinking too much about it. Waking up, going to work, eating. Blinking.
Life can pass you by in a memorable manner, one that you plan, enjoy, and find happiness in, or it can just happen, the mundane day to day things, that we don't put much thought into. How should we live our lives?
In theory, we'd all want to live our lives with intentions, but ultimately we let it live us.
