How Many is Too Many?

One for every day of the week should be my philosophy.
Something I discovered over the past few years is both the importance and possibilities of social media. That's why I have over ten profiles online.
I mean that literally.
As I was going about learning how to get subscribers, who my audience would be, what kind of aesthetic I wanted my brand to have, and so on (these kind of thoughts continuously came up), I found myself creating profile after profile trying to cater to a certain ideal.
But how many is too many? Also, are they serving the right purpose or just a waste of time?
Over the past two years or so, I have created over ten different social media profiles. Three on Twitter, four (new) Instagram profiles, one Facebook page, and two YouTube pages. Yes, you read that right. That is not including the socials I have had for more than five years (personal Facebook/Instagram, business YouTube and Instagram).
Here's your reminder to follow/find/subscribe to me @frommybedroomfloor (Twitter @IDoTheThings).
I made all of these profiles for one reason and one reason only, people don't want to see everything!
The breakdown is much more detailed, but the bottom line is people aren't interested in seeing everything. So, I made different profiles so that my outlet and intake could be different for all of them.
As I was apply for jobs or trying to show someone where I went last on vacation, sorting through my personal profiles was too bothersome (on both sides). Hence, a collective Facebook page. Releasing videos and content trying to build an audience, doesn’t work with an unorganized Instagram. Solution? Create another one. I take so many pictures of my dog? He deserves his own page!
See, so much going on, but imagine having been my Facebook friend for over ten years and suddenly being spammed with everything I've done over the past few years at once! It's too much, and gets lost in the shuffle. So, not only would it cater to my family and friends versus a wider audience, it also may never even be seen by 90% of my 'friends’.
I weighed the pros and cons for making all these profiles. What I ended up with is, people will follow what they want to see. Friends who are supportive show their colors. Strangers get to know what you offer to them, no more, no less.
So, while over ten profiles seems to be too many, it also allows me to express and share how I want people to see me. And, isn't that the whole point of what social media has become?
I hope you find/like/subscribe/follow at least one of my social medias, but if not, I'm more than happy to see that you've found your way here.

Hope you have a great week!
